Genesis sets record in food donations

December 10, 2019

This holiday season, Genesis Financial Solutions employees have set an all-time record by donating 2,087 pounds of food to Oregon Food Bank, a nonprofit organization distributing food to over 200 hunger-relief agencies.
In just one month, between November 13 - 29, the collective efforts of the Genesis Beaverton office doubled the food bank’s previous record, providing the equivalent of 1,739 meals for neighbors in need, according to Kyle Hummel, Corporate & Community Relations Officer at the food bank.

Hummel said that in addition to the amount of food, the diversity of items donated was deeply appreciated. Though cash donations are always welcome—and needed---there is no way to replicate the variety provided by drives such as the one Genesis successfully held, he said.

The Site Leadership Committee, a team of employees dedicated to community outreach, organized the effort and thanks everyone who donated. “We are so proud,” said Rhandi Hansen, Account Maintenance Representative in the Beaverton office and long-time SLC member. “These donations are going to make a huge impact on our community.”
